Title: The Willow Bud Processional

Fandom: The Cat Returns

Characters: The Cat King, Natori, brief mentions of others

Summary: The Cat King discovers that in all his time in court, Natori has never learned to dance, and heroically takes up the position of dance instructor for himself. It’s about damn time he got to feel like the smart one.

Notes: hi i’m here to regale you all with a tale of two old dumb cats interacting with each other like they think the other one will spontaneously combust at some point even tho they know each other so gd well they could probably quote each other word by word :v

i will say this one is Unfinished, but the missing parts are explained orz i’ve honestly just run out of steam on this one. me writing this was like ‘oh two characters dancing together in a casual setting? excellent my favorite’ and then the slow, sad realization that i’d have to actually write The Dancing and slowly losing that motivation until i was a dehydrated husk lying on the floor

i also listened to this song like. Way Too Much while writing this

[ insert a beginning Narration detailing that this is some nice party probably celebrating lune and yuki’s wedding or something SHHH the king is feeling weirdly down, lacks the emotional intelligence to put a word to What He’s Feeling, so wanders out onto a balcony to sulk, and is eventually followed by natori jfjfkd; ]

It doesn’t take long at all for him to be followed, of course. He hears Natori’s arrival not as a patter of careful footsteps, but as a slight, brief increase in the music volume through an opened door, one that is just as quickly diminished. And he knows his visitor must be Natori— no one else will so consistently come looking for him.

“Did you find yourself needing some fresh air, sire?”

“Yeh,” the king decides to agree, turning to look at his new companion. Natori almost always appears quite polished, those moments he’s comically caught off-guard aside, but there’s something implicitly different about him when he’s clad not in his usual dark linen, but what looks to be plum-colored silk. Were he feeling slightly more charitable, he’d most likely mention to his advisor that the color was appealing on him.

Instead, the indistinct melody he catches from indoors hogs all his attention.

“...eh? Is that the Willow Bud Procession they’re starting up again? They already did that one tonight.”

Natori, surreptitiously glancing back through the glass doors to the dancing pairs inside, responds, “Yes, but I’m led to believe a striking number of the courtiers are quite proud of their costumes tonight. I assume they all wished for another opportunity to show them off.”

“Oh, yeah? If that’s the case, I’m surprised you’re not out there with them— that shiny stuff you’re wearing had to set you back a pretty penny.” It comes out perhaps more sullen than he’d intended, and he can’t quite place why.

Regardless, he makes no move to amend his tone.

Natori turns a studying look to him, one paw still on the frame of the door. The king shares his gaze for only a few seconds before he hastily looks away, back out into the sun-drenched hills of the Cat Kingdom, where his attention falls on Little Sister Lake. There’s birds there now, cranes— tall, white. Formless. Hm, he thinks then, perhaps they’re not birds, after all. They’re occasional visitors, but no cat in the kingdom has yet been stealthy enough to see them up close.

Natori has remained silent for so long, he’d almost forgotten his advisor had joined him. Nevertheless, he eventually says, “...I might say the same for you, sire. You seemed quite enthused about your crown’s replacement earlier tonight.”

The reminder brightens the king’s mood a little.

“Yeh— Natoru did a top-notch job on it, didn’t she? I’d give her a promotion if I could remember what her position actually was. An’... you know, if I wasn’t retired.” And there, remembering what the original topic was, he follows that up with a more subdued, “Eh, but everyone’s already seen it. Also, I never liked that stuffy procession, to tell you the truth. ‘Willow Bud Processional’ is a pretty whimsical name for what amounts to shuffling rhythmically around the dance floor. Drove me up a wall having to practice it all the time as a kitten.”

Were he facing Natori, he’d see the other cat visibly relax. Alas, he only turns to face his advisor after the revelation Natori sees fit to offhandedly drop on him.

“I’ve never actually learned the steps to it, myself.”

He turns back to survey Natori with some measure of disbelief. “You don’t know how to do the Willow Bud Procession? How have you survived all the parties without knowing?”

Natori hesitates here, and the king reads a definite embarrassment in it, as if the other cat is uncertain what he should admit to. It seems he does settle on honesty, however, as he soon after offers the king a rueful smile and an apologetic tilt of his head.

“I’m afraid I don’t often do much dancing during them, ha.” Too focused on keeping you out of trouble, he doesn’t say, but they both know.

The Cat King thinks on this for a long moment or two, gaze drawn back out to the distant white birds bathing in the kingdom’s cherished lake, the Not-Cranes.�� In silence, casually, Natori joins him there at the balustrade, and the air is distinctly companionable until the king speaks up again, distracted.

“It’s not hard. You’d probably pick it up in no time, babe.”

“Perhaps you might teach me, then, sire? It sounds as if you’re quite the expert.”

The king pauses, trying to ignore the bloom of smug delight that comes with being referred to as an expert of anything, but, of course, not very diligently. It’s not like he’ll correct anyone who wishes to feed his ego, least of all Natori.

He looks to Natori and finds that his advisor is regarding him with an expression he can’t quite define. Concerned? Affable? Sly? It’s somehow all of them. Not for the first time, he finds himself wondering if Natori has some obtuse plan he’s orchestrating in subtle ways the king himself can’t quite catch. He’s been proven wrong in this line of thinking so many times before and yet still can’t shake its occasional return in those times when his advisor seems particularly unreachable.

“Hmm. Yeah, babe, I can do that.” The idea of teaching his ostensibly better-read advisor anything is perhaps unsurprisingly enticing. He gives the empty balcony behind them a cursory inspection. “We can have a lesson here. There’s space.”

[ insert the cat king teaching the steps to the ‘willow bud processional.’ if you’re really curious what this might look like, pls feel free to look up ‘pavane’ on youtube. at some point, the king still feels Ignored (or, more accurately, like he’s not Truly Connecting and Socializing with someone), so like a sullen two-year-old he gets natori’s attention by tossing a wrench into his plan ]

“I want to hear a story,” the king says airily.

Natori, who had been gazing down at his feet with a faraway stare, looks back up to him with a raised eyebrow, and somewhere inside, the king whoops at his tiny victory. “Now..?”

“Yeh. Now.” The Cat King takes Natori’s apparent break in concentration as an opportunity to spin the two of them across the balcony, as if they were hapless passengers on a carnival ride as opposed to two old friends trying to have an impromptu dance lesson. Natori stumbles but doesn’t fall, righting himself with a deceptively practiced air, even if his grip is noticeably tighter than before. “Tell me a story, Natty.”

Natori, feeling the situation so characteristically slip from his grasp, glances down to his feet again to gather his thoughts.

“Well…” He eventually starts. “What kind of a story, sire?”

“Hmm. I dunno.” Another too-fast spin. He’s fairly certain he’d seen both Natori’s feet leave the ground for a fleeting second. The other cat definitely looks a touch aggravated now, though he’s trying bravely to hide it. “Tell me one you might have told to your sisters once upon a time.”

It isn’t often the topic of Natori’s family arises between them. The boundary between his advisor’s working family and his personal one often feels like an insurmountable wall at times, one which he doesn’t always possess the interest or fortitude to scale. The oddness of it seems to add only more tinder to Natori’s uncertainty, but in his usual way, he manages to sidle past it. In the meantime, also, the king slows their pace, this time only holding their joined paws in the air and waiting (Natori seems to twirl under their ‘canopy’ without thinking, still too engrossed in choosing a suitable story.)

After a long couple of moments waiting, the king finally speaks up again. “There were that many?”

Natori laughs, genuinely (the king can tell by the way it —). “It’s been a long time since I was the storyteller, sire. Lune always did prefer Natoru’s stories to mine.”

“Hers always involved more explosions and punching. You were outgunned.”

The king watches Natori’s eyelids flutter slightly from long-cold exasperation. “...Indeed.”

“So tell me one of your favorites. One you never did get to tell Lune.”

Natori doesn’t say that he has the less-than-flattering suspicion the king’s attention span and his appreciation for fairy tales are about on par with his son’s as a restless, curious child, but he’s certainly thinking it quite loudly. If the Cat King has even an inkling of the same thought, he’s for once discreet enough not to mention it.

Natori blows out a breath and an uncomfortable laugh with it, and starts. “...I suppose my favorite was always the one that explained why the sun lived in the sky.”

The faint strings of the Willow Bud Processional from the open door leading onto the balcony begin to fade, and instead revive themselves as another familiar dance, a much slower, more intimate one (one Natori recognizes as the charmingly-named Lilycat Waltz). The king wonders if perhaps the bride and groom had requested a quiet moment. He and Natori move away from each other, standing across from the other in apparent uncertainty over what to do next.

“...You know how to do a waltz?” The king finally asks Natori, though he’s already guessed what the answer will be.

“You’ll have to show me, sire.” As expected. Yet with a bit of good humor mixed in. The king thinks to himself that the two of them are sharing an inside joke neither has yet spoken aloud, and it’s a familiar and comfortable nook they’ve settled into.

“Alright, babe, alright. So stand here— give me your paw—”

Natori complies with both directions with little hesitation, and he raises no protests when he’s pulled close or when he’s otherwise (perhaps less-than-gently at some points) guided into the right stance and position.

And when they’ve gotten situated into another habitual nook, this time closer together in the easy, thoughtless way only the oldest of friends can manage, the king speaks up again.

“You took right to it, babe. Said you’d be a fast study— didn’t I tell you so?”

“You did tell me so, sire,” Natori replies indulgently. Seemingly as a consolatory afterthought, he then adds, “Are my feet in the right position? It feels off.”

“That’s ‘cause you’re new to it.”

Their words, now, feel like a recital, a carefully-rehearsed script. The king thinks it’s about time they broke away from it.

“I have a question for you, Natori.”

“Oh? If it’s important, there’s no need to keep it to yourself, then, Your Majesty.”

“Why does the sun live in the sky?”

Natori laughs. Surprised, perhaps, self-effacing, because he’d been waiting for the question on both their minds, not a request for the continuation of a story he’d assumed had been forgotten.

“His Majesty has a long memory.”

“But you already knew that about me, babe.”

"So I did." Yet Natori continues where he left off readily enough. “The story goes that once, long before the world as we know it was formed, the sun and the water were close friends. Inseparable, one might say— and both lived on the earth, of course. The sun would make frequent visits to his friend, but the water never once returned the favor.”

“Hmph.” The king sounds somewhat discomfited by this beginning, and the intense contemplation Natori spies in his expression tugs at an unexplained apprehension within him. He doesn’t otherwise respond, however. Natori continues, perhaps more gingerly than before.

“Well, of course the sun would find himself curious, if… ah, perhaps suspicious, over this odd discrepancy. He finally saw fit to go to the water themselves for an explanation.”

“That was an awkward conversation.”

“Ha— I always thought so, too, as a child. When my—” Here Natori stumbles just slightly, and the king has little reason to wonder why. “--my mother used to tell the story to me, I always thought of it as the worst part. I always thought… well, if I ever did end up in the same situation, then nothing in all of the kingdom could get me to approach this friend of mine.”

“Were you expecting to make friends with the lake, or…”

“I was five, sire,” Natori deadpans in response to the king’s jest seamlessly.

“Oh, so you definitely were.”

Natori doesn’t answer— he’s too distracted by the faint increase in pressure where the king’s paw is holding his waist, and how the cat suddenly spins them around and then leans the both of them forward, to the degree that Natori’s balance is compromised. In the heat of the moment, he can’t decide whether crashing to the floor or clinging to his self-proclaimed teacher will prove to be the most embarrassing option, and in the end is relegated only to grasping his partner by the arms, stiffly holding one leg outwards in a weak attempt at a counterbalance. (He does not have the core strength to keep this up for long, he can tell that already.)

He’s been exceedingly patient before now, Natori thinks, in dealing with the king’s antics, but this finally proves too much.

When he speaks, it’s softly, but there’s an undercurrent of resigned exasperation, and his expression, he knows, must fail to belie his chagrin. “...sire, I’m not certain how being tossed across the, er, balcony like a bag of rice is going to teach me any of these dances.”

The king snorts in apparent amusement as he pulls the two of them back upright, much to Natori’s relief. “What’s the matter? You don’t trust me to hold you up..?”

You don’t have the most promising track record runs through Natori’s mind, but it’s gone so quickly it might as well have stayed obscured, he thinks in light resentment.

“Sorry, Your Majesty,” is what he says, but his grip hasn’t yet slackened.

The king doesn’t respond for a concerningly long time, staring at Natori for so long, and in such a sour manner that speaks of stewing rumination, that the other cat finds himself feeling distantly nervous. Yet, ultimately, he seems to decide against speaking entirely, gently prying Natori’s paws away and back into the air beside them (the other resting quite naturally along the king’s arm).

Without another word on the matter, he compels the two of them to start the dance all over again. And Natori lets him. After a lengthy minute of this loaded silence, the king’s gaze distant from morose thought and Natori’s eyes averted elsewhere, Claudius finally speaks up again.

“So, the sun went to bug the water about the situation. What was the water’s excuse?”

Natori appears surprised, but duly grateful, to be given this escape from the awkward energy that now smolders between them. Given time and distraction, it will die back down again, as it always does. He clears his throat.

“The water’s excuse— y-yes. The water... expressed their sincerest apologies, but explained also that the sun’s house was not big enough for them and all their people to visit, and to do so without heeding that fact would be to drive the sun from his own home. ‘If you do so truly wish for me to visit, then you must build a house large enough to hold me,’ in the water’s own words. But, they warned also, it must be quite substantial, as the water was immense and their people were many.”

“Sounds like too much work if you ask me. Might as well just keep the same old setup.” Seems the king is still feeling a touch cross.

“To travel a great distance, and to always be the one to make that trip, might prove tiring after so many times, as well, sire. Don’t you think?”

The Cat King frowns, more pensive deliberation, but this time he speaks up. “...I don’t think it would.” Then, in a lighter, more promising manner, “He’s gonna do it, though, isn’t he? The sun?”

Natori nods once with a permissive blink.

“Indeed. The sun agreed to the challenge and waved off his friend’s warnings.”

“Think I see where this is going, babe,” the king says lowly as they spin lazy circles across the balcony.

Natori laughs again. “It’s not quite a mystery epic, is it?”

“Alright, so how does the sun mess this up?”

“Well. The sun built himself an enormously vast house. There’s no telling how long it took him. But when it stood finally finished, he invited the water to tea and waited. And when the water arrived, one of their people called up to the sun— ‘We are here! Is there room for us all?’ Of course, the sun, being the passionate host he was, again told his friend not to worry and invited them in.”

The king snorts. “Here we go.”

Natori smiles. His eyes are still closed. The king thinks he looks oddly content like that. He scarcely remembers the frustrated betrayal he’d been afflicted with just moments earlier, and the abrupt, brisk spin he’d been on the verge of executing also fades before it’d even legitimately formulated.

“The water began to flow in, of course, and with them, all the creatures of the seas and the rivers and the lakes. It didn’t take long, now, for the water to fill the sun’s great house to a depth that would easily surge far over a cat’s head.”

“And the sun just let it keep happening without a word, I’m guessing.”

“He didn’t know any better,” Natori attempts to clarify, eyes opening now to fix his companion with a rueful look, one side of his muzzle quirked so that he looks vaguely hapless. “His assumptions were woefully imprecise because of it. It’s a misfortune.”

“Hmm. Up for another spin, babe? They’re my favorite part.”

Natori’s startled confusion is evident, but the sudden change in subject registers soon enough. Something else lingers, though, echoes of a rapt surprise.

“I don’t mind, sire.”

“Good, ‘cause I was gonna do it no matter what, heh.”

“Hm. I appreciate the considerate word of warning, then.” Spoken dryly, but it lacks the exasperation the Cat King had been expecting.

Natori is clearly preparing for the breakneck whirlwinds he’d endured earlier in their ‘lesson’, but it’s not what he receives— the king is sure of that this time. The music which had begun as an overtly intimate, if not downright romantic, waltz now boasts a noticeable bounce and pep in its tempo, and to himself Natori gives some silent thanks for the shift. This soft, slow dance would be quite hard to justify were he still hearing those faint notes of sweetness from the barely-open door.

He’s struggling already to justify the warmth of his companion’s paw, again settled loosely at his waist, and the perfect fit of the king’s other paw which folds mildly, tenderly, over his own— all have been present for some time now, since they began their so-called waltz, yet Natori is only just now noticing them.

Staring up at the sun-streaked sky of their kingdom, swaying idly side to side under the king’s lead, he continues then, unprompted. “...To the water’s credit, they did ask for reassurance that the situation was still acceptable time and time again. But even by the time the house was crowded with so much of the water and their people that he was forced to sit on the roof of his own home, the sun refused to withdraw his invitation.”

“Why would he do that?” The king sounds baffled.

“I don’t know,” Natori admits. Then, gently, thoughtfully, “...I suppose if one truly wants something, and has their heart set on it, they might be quite amenable to bearing more hardship for it than others might feel is strictly necessary or appropriate…”

The king doesn’t respond to that, and Natori feels perhaps rather oddly like he’s crossed too far over an invisible line, and nervously, resolutely, says no more. What had been a companionable air now lies stretched too thin over the pair, teeming with uneasiness. Eventually, the king does speak up again, and his voice is too low for Natori to discern his mood with any measure of accuracy.

“Gonna take a stab at guessing the ending to this one, babe.”

“...please do, sire.” It’s a near whisper.

“The sun never told his friend ‘no, that’s enough’, so the water never stopped, and the house flooded so much the sun had nowhere left to sit. So he went up into the sky and never came back down. And I guess never did speak up, either.”

Natori smiles, weakly. “You guessed it.”

“The water, too, never put two and two together, huh..? I’m not the most sensitive of the bunch, but I think even I’d know something was up by the time a friend of mine had to hang around in the sky because I was taking up too much space.” The king snorts.

“Do you?” Natori’s voice remains faint, timid, even; he feels still like he stands at the edge of a great crevice, and he’s not yet sure what lies at the bottom. The king seems also surprisingly fazed or rattled by the further, simple question.

Gently, so much so Natori almost doesn’t notice, he rests his chin on his companion’s shoulder.

“...well. Maybe not,” he eventually says, nonplussed.

They lapse into another silence, then, one that doesn’t quite recapture their earlier easy comfort, but neither does it feel intrinsically charged, either. Natori finally turns his gaze from the unchanging sky to their other surroundings. They’ve been out here together, away from the other guests, for some time now. He’s surprised no one else has come searching for the two of them yet.

He’s just about to echo the king’s movement and lay his head down when the other cat suddenly speaks up again.

“I’ll tell you one thing I do notice, babe.”

“Mm? What’s that?”

“When someone who obviously knows how to dance says they can’t.”

[ and here we see that i ran out of steam before writing the ending rip natori admits he already knew the steps to the dances, the cat king has long since come to the conclusion that natori lied in order to have this long dance together (also briefly joking that natori clearly just wanted a romantic moment, which natori will vehemently deny) and that it speaks to a kind of comforting Idea that natori knows him Very Well, being aware that the easiest way to cheer him up would have been to Make Him Feel Smart ]

I’m not anti anything anon, so you never gotta worry about that! I have ships I like and ships I don’t and ships I’m indifferent about, but I’m a firm believer in the ship and let ship principle~ sadly bkdk is strictly platonic for me (I see them too much as sibs for it to work in a romantic way, at this point), but I do adore their relationship and the way Horikoshi is writing it TT^TT it’s def one of my favorite Bakugou relationships, such a wonderfully complex story 💕

I have in the past drawn them in AUs inspired by characters from other fandoms, if that’s what you’re asking! At the top of my head I can remember drawing them as Black⭐Star and Tsubaki from Soul Eater, Doumeki and Watanuki from xxxHolic and Jacuzzi and Nice from Baccano!, but I’m sure those are not the only ones... I’m never against that sort of AUs, if you have anything you’d like to see ask and I’ll see if I know the fandom you’re thinking about! :D

I don’t ship it, sorry :( as far as shipping Bakugou goes, I only ship him around if Kirishima is involved - I do have a few Baku ships I like just for the aesthetics (like with Jirou, or Todoroki!) but I wouldn’t really call it “shipping”, I just like to see them next to each other cause their designs work well together haha

I’ve never, actually :thinking: the vld fandom is very scary to me so I try to keep away from it, ngl! I’ve also not watched past the first season of the cartoon itself so by now I don’t think I have the necessary information to make AUs based on that fandom, but the concept of my kids in space or piloting mechas is a wonderful one nonetheless haha

I’ve actually thought about something of the like, but if I ever did it would be a small zine with pieces made specifically for it! I have to research the whole thing a bit more, but in case I’ll reach a point where it’s a concrete possibility I’d first post something to check the actual interest in it between everyone! ;^;

Kardashian Dreaming

Had the coolest/most bizarre dream ever.

I was seated at this meeting with Mama Kris Jenner, Rob was there and prolly the other family members, I can’t remember. And she was gonna hire me or wanted to hire me, and it was an interview or something am not so sure. But basically my role was to hang around the whole Kardashian-Jenner clan, be on the prowl on the stuff they do, find research backing up evidence that what they do is effective by science (but way better than David Avocado Wolfe levels, more classier and actually backed up by a medical doctor (hello, me!), and yes, blog about it.

Or ghost write articles whatever floats my boat. Basically tag along with them, maybe occasionally take their pics for Instagram/Snapchat as to back up the article I wrote or blogged, but not in a PA kind of way. I’m more like just like a third party observer, I am to be treated cordially and kindly, not like staff, whom I don’t like as some are bossy, snobby divas (must be competition syndrome who knows?).

I don’t get to be on the show either (Thank God, I wasn’t the type who wanted that sort of attention to begin with), but as a fan of the series, it’s a treat that I get a full-depth view of what goes on in the family for real and ahead from what’s aired on E!, way before everyone else gets to see it (of course I have a disclosure clause tho I can write anything, as long as Mama Jenner approves of the topic of course, like I report directly to her anyway and she does keep direct tabs with me on the stuff that I write).

Well, anyway, going back to the story: Then Kris goes for the jugular and looks me in the eye and says “we pay higher than 500 per hour”, kinda making me know she’s done her homework about me and that whatever I’m currently being paid for at my current job, she’s willing to pay me higher (lol. 600 maybe?) and before y’all start thinking, I knew deep down Mama Kris meant she was gonna pay me at least 600 US Dollars per hour just to “keep up with them”, and I had a fixed schedule of reporting 3-4x a week at least four hours to a maximum of 8 hours a day, as for specifics on time well, if there are evening events and if I’m free, I can go and would be paid double for night differential. All of which was pretty ok by me.

I learned in my 90 minute snooze that the Kardashian clan are actually pretty generous employers. Like you got free range around the house (of course you can’t enter the private rooms unless you’re invited by the owner to go in and there are CCTVs so they do know when PAs steal their stuff), you can eat whatever food is in the pantry (except stuff that’s labeled with the names of the girls if they’re saving it for later, like Kim writes her name on it labeled as “Kim” or “Kiki”, Kourtney uses a green tape label so you know it’s hers, shit this dream is so detailed, it was beyond!!!

Anyway, so I get the job yo’. I’m hanging out with Kanye West. He’s not even scary. He’s actually very nice and polite, not like the angry dude you always see on the telly.

So he’s going about talking being drawn to different kinds of wall graffitis (I swear I had no idea there were even types to begin with! Shit there it is on google, people I am just typing this website and googling it down now because I thought that dream was just crack but fuuuucccck nnnhhooo!!!) and showed me this wall written with words like yeezy (yes written in bold with no caps on the first “y”) and a quote, I can’t remember but I know it was a cool quote about believing in yourself and pretty profound one at that. It took me a while to realize while talking to this man that he was in the process of making his own font!! People, Kanye West was designing his own fucking Times New Roman y’all!!! Prolly use the letterings to put it on his shirts, on his album, have it sold on Microsoft Office or whatnot, this shit is superb I simply cannot!!!. It wasn’t a useless font, it’s like a relatable font that could be used for making a slogan, a poster, or heck even as a document paper if you don’t mind wasting some ink on the printer.

It was super genius, I tell you. I remember giving him feedback about it (because he asked me, that’s how cool the ‘Ye is, he gets feedback from the masses coz he wants to understand the common people!) that I liked the design on the wall except if I stood at a certain distance, I couldn’t read the first word written on top (I can’t believe I had the nerve to talk up to the ‘Ye) but he was super cool about it and admitted he hadn’t thought about that but was “going with the creative flow” when he was in the moment and having an artistic flair myself, I understood where he was coming from.

Next I’m in the gym. Now I’m pretty certain this is recent, I cannot confirm if Khloe is pregnant but she sure wasn’t working out either.

Out of the Kardashian sisters, she’s the one I genuinely get along with the best. She even calls me by my first name Kristina, opting not to address me by my middle name which Kris and Kim do as I didn’t want to confuse myself into sharing a nickname similar to my new boss (aka Mama KJ). I dunno but I clicked best with Khloe and could honestly imagine that IRL we could be really good pals. She does have one interesting habit: she always has to turn off the lights when not in use.

It’s weird because you think one: these people are ridiculously rich but are stingy with electricity? Two, shouldn’t the Kardashian/Jenner fam invest in motion sensor lights? And Three: according to Khloe, she started getting back into this habit to reduce energy in lieu of Climate Change (of course), and it used to be the one reminder her dad, the late Robert Kardashian Sr always made her do because, like me, she had a habit of leaving the lights on too.

So basically included on my job description was yep, turn off the lights each time I went out of a room or check if there are unused lights.

So one time I’m in the family gym, and Kim was there. Now out of all the Kardashian/Jenners (don’t tell Khloe ok, ORZ) Kim is my favourite. IRL she’s not tall, prolly around my height, but has a doll-face and is really curvy but small in the areas that matter. TBH Kim leaves me star-struck, very Kween- like: regal, formal, never losing her shit (unlike me the whole freaking dream sequence) but still approachable and likeable.

Out of all the Kardashian/Jenners, Kim is the most like Kris. Like literally Mama’s carbon copy, even in some mannerisms, except Kim is more reserved, polite, but still approachable without being intimidating, which that part is mostly like her Mom. Though Kim can be intimidating in a different way. Let’s just say both women have that Alpha air about them.

Kris Jenner is all business and is the the Queen Mom, kinda like my boss so it’s ironic I leave a job only to be hired by someone who resembles a lot of qualities similar to the former boss. But who can deny BIGGER and BETTER PAY?

As for Kim, I really can’t compare her to anyone I’ve ever met, but she’s definitely got an aura of being something extraordinary. Like Celebrity vibes. That feeling one gets when you’re in the presence of someone who is gonna either change the world or bring it to its knees and end the rest of humanity, XD.

Anyway, I’m in the gym and I dunno why but there are icicles on the machines (the elliptical, the treadmill, the bikes) I don’t feel cold or anything but it I chose to ignore it prolly coz I was astonished that there were icicles on the machines and yet no one bothers to turn off the AC and plus hello, I’m watching Kimye work out a sweat or rather, breathing cold air like some friggin’ Elsa with her long platinum hair which makes me miss own on bleached Khaleesi mane too. Kim’s working on the treadmill, she gives me a polite smile and nod, and says hello, addressing me by my middle name (it’s shocking because I’ve barely been in this house or at this job for long, and already Kim knows me by name and face. It’s like an amazing talent she and Kris have, they remember faces and names of people they’ve just met, whether you’re a Royalty or a servant, they’ll remember. They’re like natural politicians!).

Khloe asks me if I could turn off the lights, which was the gym, I dim it a bit, with Kim’s permission, of course. She doesn’t mind, she’s in her own zone. Breathing out cold air probably from those iced exercise machines I dunno (I believe I found new material for my writing blogs that I was hired for too).

I move on to another side of the gym, which is a lounge area. I see in the corner of my eye Kourtney having a informal business meeting with a blonde long-haired Japanese business dude who gives me Steve Aoki vibes, a translator (who is my friend Aira), and a bunch of other peeps lounging on sofas. I yell over to Khloe and tell her that someone’s in the lounge room and she goes over to me and says “Oh yeah, leave the lights on.” Laughs off and walks away.

I’m not close with Kourt tho. I don’t think we have bad vibes or anything, actually we’re the same age, it’s just Kourt and I never had a chance to bond because her top priority are her kids and we just never had time to chitchat, but I think she’s just as nice as the rest of the family, probably even more casual than Kim, but less chummy as Khloe. She did mention once that I’m a natural with kids even though I never baby sat any of the Kardashian kids, but they’re really sweet and they seem to like me well enough.

I’ve interacted with Mason, Reign, and Penny; they’re the sweetest kids, Reign and Penny always greet me with hugs, they’re super friendly. Mason’s already a big boy, so hugs are not in order and he’s usually somewhere off doing his own thing or hanging out with Scott aka The Lord (who doesn’t seem like the douchebag he’s normally portrayed as in the show). I’ve met North and Saint briefly as Kim was in a hurry, North’s a bit shy, she’s got the cutest smile tho. I just don’t think North warms up to people as easily as compared to Kourtney’s kids do tho. Saint is adorable, as expected, but it’s too early to tell how he’s gonna be when he’s older, but he’s so darn cute. Saint reminds me of this kid of a friend of mine who was just about the cutest darnest little kid whom I preferred to babysit over his naughty older brother, Andrei, hahaha!

And as for the Kardashian-Jenner girls. Well, all I can say is Kendall is by far the tallest and prettiest sister and has got the most amazing legs, but she’s moody as f tho. Like let’s say she’d walk in a room I was in, she’d ignore me (unless I’d be the first one to greet her, then she’d respond with a bored hi or mumble something close to it) then Ken would do her own thing like sit on a corner of a table or lounge on a couch and interact with her sisters but mostly looks bored as if she’d rather be somewhere else more interesting than at home, which is kinda disappointing since I’m a huge fan of hers, but I get her deal. She grew up into the whole limelight and unlike her older sisters, she never wanted any of it and if you asked her, she’d probably wish she was living a rather normal life. Plus the bad bitterness she has as a model and having to prove to everyone she’s a supermodel because people hate on her for the nepotism even though she really does work hard. Basically Kendall is the Kuudere of the Kardashian/Jenner girls. So I get her deal. But compared to Kun-Kuun Kenny, Kylie is more like the typical teen/Generation Z/late Millenial: Always on her phone, not really in tune with anything going on about in the house. I like Jordyn Woods tho, she’s really friendly and warm that you don’t get an air vibe out of her, like she’s genuinely a nice girl that you’re glad she’s there for Kylie. Maybe that’s the reason why Kylie’s got a lot more mellow than her older sister Kendall, since Kendall doesn’t have that sort of friendship from what I’ve seen based on that whole dynamic I’ve gathered in that 90 minute dream.

Oh, and as for Kylie being pregnant? Let’s just say, I can’t say :P

That dream was so awesome!! Too bad I had to get up after dozing off when the alarm reminded me that I had to leave the house early because I had an exam. I woke up feeling shitty because I didn’t get enough rest and as I took a cold shower, it suddenly hit me that I had dreamed about this during that 90 minute accidental snooze and I found myself having to write it down, and added more of my personal in-depth thoughts because tho it was such a vivid dream that happened so fast, I’m amazed by how much insight I actually got based from those details that I decided to write it all down and post it on tumblr/twitter with hopes that I do wonder if any of this shit was accurate.

some ocs as 5e characters in response to this prompt!! details under the cut

Atom: I've always wanted to play a wild magic sorcerer, honestly, it's been on my bucket list since I first started playing 5e but I just haven't gotten around to it. My main problem is that I have a hard time roleplaying unique characters-- no matter what personality they start out with in my head I always end up roleplaying them the same. Unfortunately, I've been struggling with coming up with a sorcerer character that wouldn't very easily fall into the exact same "kind of naive stupid friendly boy" style roleplay (which both me and my tablemates are kind of tired of honestly haha). Atom here is definitely exactly that, so they're definitely not the sorcerer I'm looking for. Ah well, maybe someday. As a tiefling Atom has tentacle-like suckers on their tail and probably the entertainer (gladiator variant) background, as callbacks to their squidsona origins!

Dain (/danny): As a human/pony he was a paleontologist named Danny Andrews, so I had fun adapting that to a more fantasy setting. Except that he looks like a lion, oops... His hair's definitely in a big ponytail in the back, but I couldn't figure out how to incorporate that here haha. I opted for ranger over fighter because of the survival aspects for sure, and because of the more natural themes. If he were a beastmaster I'd hope to get him a pteranodon companion or something, but more likely he'd be a hunter I think. STR-ranger (Pretty sure those are viable?) with a warpick, maybe dueling fighting style? Two-weapon would be fun, too, I like the idea of duel-wielding warpicks haha. Probably the outlander background since it's what fits best of the top of my head thematically, though I think hermit is the one with the discovery feature (? iirc) which would fit his character better... Dunno. Might be overthinking this. Who knows. Anyway, dwarf definitely fits him great; he's a prideful history-buff rock-lover. I feel like dwarves would be great paleontologists.

Shaun: Not sure if she'd go for way of the open hand or way of the four elements... On one hand open hand is (a) mechanically way better and (b) fits her magical-girl weapon (magic brass knuckles). On the other, four elements fits her personality well and fits with being a genasi. I was also considering her being a fire genasi, but the attributes didn't fit well enough (mechanically or flavor-wise) orz. I'm really curious about monks, honestly. I've never tried playing one, though I was in a party with one a while ago. She was a runaway princess, I think, though her story arc never got fully resolved or revealed to the rest of the party. And I really love genasi. I want to play one at some point, they're just So Damn Cool and +2 con (iirc?) is great no matter what kind of character you're playing. I'm not 100% sure if I'd give her the urchin background or the acolyte background (aka the monastery she ran away from), or even like the outlander background; urchin would fit with her PMMM backstory and give her a cute pet rat, which I love, acolyte would fit with her D&D backstory and seems like a pretty Standard Monk Background iirc, but outlander would give her athletics and survival and is overall better imo. Maybe she ran away from the monastery into some mountains or something, or maybe the monastary was far from civilization; either of those could pretty easily give her the outlander background. Ehh who knows, it's not like I'm actually gonna play as her anyway.

1) Who are you named after? well, if you really must know…MiCa is just short for my actual first name 😅 my mom wanted to name her first daughter “Mica” but wanted it to be two words made into one at the same time so…she chose “Maria” (because basically everyone is named maria/Ma. where I come from lmao) as the start of my first name abd “Catalina” which basically means I got named after the dorm my mom stayed in during her college days…=,= (it was Sta. Catalina in case anyone was curious. and yes, i stayed there too during my undergrad so imagine the looks of everyone in there when they learn my full name orz)

New VLD S2 Trailer (Released January 5th) Thoughts

0:25-0:44

Zarkon: There is no place in the universe beyond my visions reach. Set a course for Voltron.

Shiro: Zarkon keeps finding us. It's like he knows how to track us down. Pidge: I don't know how he found us, but it wasn't with normal instruments. Allura: It is nothing on the ship.

So apparently it's not some sort of tracking device in Shiro's arm or in Red like I had initially thought, but Zarkon's ability to... astrally project (?) himself and locate them, possibly via his connection to the Black Lion.

There was some debate over the season 1 finale re: whether Black rejected Shiro because of her former alliance with Zarkon or if it was done to save her new paladin. I'm thinking it's both, but perhaps Zarkon hasn't even needed to be in such close quarters with her to (ab)use that connection.

0:45-0:52

Shiro: Everyone, stay alert! [there was a splice between this line and the next because when Shiro's looking back at the Garrison Trio on the bridge Hunk's awake and without an apron] Hunk: *wakes up from sleeping on the bridge because he's stuck in the comedy relief role half the time but given how heavy the last trailer was some levity is nice* What'reyougysdoingwhat'reyouguyslookin'at?!? Keith: *wearing nothing but a towel and... boxers? Swim trunks after a swim date with Lance in the pool they found one day while randomly exploring the castle* You woke yourself up snoring. Hunk: My bad. orz

The syncing on Keith's line is kind of wonky so I think that clip was switched around for fanservice purposes.

Zarkon: Attack that castle with everything we've got! CAPTURE VOLTRON!

Zarkon emoting the most he's ever emoted in the series so far. Sounds pretty pissed; the only other time that sticks out in my mind is right before he about to finish off Keith and Red in the season 1 finale and Shiro and Black swoop in to save them he lets out an audible gasp of surprise. The blast ended up doing nothing to him but he was (seemingly) actually caught off guard there.

1:03-1:05

Shiro: Everyone to your stations: This could be the fight of our lives!

Right in the middle of that statement we see four of the five lions launching into action with the next five seconds being dedicated to showing them in combat. Red is mysteriously absent.

The the SDCC trailer was framed as if Keith was taking up the mantle of leader and Shiro was either dying or going MIA for some reason (e.g., Captured by Galra, kidnapped by some sort of mystical godlike being based on that last shot, etc.) The former is highly unlikely; his encounter with Haggar was meant to mirror the one in the original GoLion! series where his character was murdered, but he survived it here ala the original Voltron, albeit with quiet a nasty-looking wound. In addition to showrunner comments about wanting to make a show where character death would not be a common occurrence (can't find the quote atm), I'd say all of the core cast is going to make it to the end of the series. Tangent time: I've seen a lot of comments about Shiro dying so that the team ends up reflecting the original GoLion!/Voltron line-up of Keith being the leader and piloting Black, Lance switching from Blue to Red, and then Allura piloting Blue. The difference being, from what I've seen and heard about the original series, the lions were interchangeable. They were merely vehicles for the human characters to do their own thing without any personality. In the reboot, the lions are still mechanical, but also magical and alive. They have a magical/spiritual connection to beings whose quintessence matches up with their own and mirrors their core qualities. Keith had tracked down Blue in the desert, but he couldn't get close to her because his quintessence and her quintessence did not sync. It's Lance who triggers the cave to open and for Blue to let down her shield. Now while it's possible for people to change over time, such as Keith becoming more friendly and embodying that aspect of the Blue Lion, I highly doubt there's going to be any major shift occurring in the line-up. It goes against the theme presented in Shiro's statement in "Taking Flight" upon Pidge revealing her (not-really-a-)secret to the cast.

Shiro: Pidge, owning who you are is going to make you a better Paladin.

...and by extension, a better, more-rounded individual. That and it just isn't practical for Allura to pilot a lion. Ignoring the skewed gender ratio of the Paladins, which I can understand why people would want to switch up (dear god give us more named female characters please), Allura pilots the entire castleship. Coran can take over for her when necessary and has done so multiple times already, but only she is able to really connect with it and the lions, personally set up by King Alfor (which I sort of question but whatever it is what it is). Her energy is integral in producing wormholes. Coran states in the season 1 finale that the ship can make those jumps by storing enough of her residual energy, but we don't know how it's acquired and stored exactly, and it doesn't seem like a feasible method to rely upon in combat, which the castle regularly participates in along with the lions. Again, Coran has piloted the ship by himself when the need has arisen, but it really is at least a two-person job (really like a 100+ person job but they're working with an extremely stretched crew.)

That still leaves us with the question of why Red is absent here. Around the 0:53 mark of the SDCC trailer, we see another shot of these four lions heading into combat, and based on the scenery we can assume they're part of the same scene. It's clear that the team reunites relatively easily (in that they won't spend the majority of the season forcibly split up) and that it's not Keith piloting Black (unless Shiro's voice wasn't actually meant to be paired up with those clips of Black) leading the team on a mission to rescue Shiro and Red, but Shiro and the Garrison Trio (most likely) going to rescue Keith and Red.

1:10-1:13

Allura [voiceover]: We are always stronger together.

Whooooa this looks like a very metaphysical scene here. Again, the SDCC trailer made it look as though Shiro was absent (leading @akaashiaesthetics to try and nobly fix the situation), but he's seen in a from-behind group shot of the Paladins.

1:14-1:16 -NEW WORLDS- Followed up by a shot of Hunk and Lance in Space!Atlantis, a shot of what I'm assuming is one of the aliens helping out Pidge not initially when she falls out of the corrupted wormhole into the trash nebula but later on when she's on some sort of foresty planet (seen around the 0:20 mark in the SDCC trailer; whether that's in the same episode after a failed attempt to leave the nebula or if it's after another separation from the team, I’m not sure), and finally a shot of Shiro being attacked by a Space!Dinosaur in what I'm assuming is the first episode of the season where he and Keith are stuck on some sort of rocky planet but who knows.

1:17-1:20 -NEW ALLIES- Keith is shown helping a (most likely) Galra soldier out of a smashed ship and then fighting alongside them against a... giant mass of speedy organic material? Dunno about that part but I'm 99% sure it's a Galra soldier. It could be another species we haven't met yet, but it's looking like the same person at 0:54, who hopefully is a Galra resistance fighter/rebel alliance member/something because jesus do these kids need allies with connections

1:21-1:27 -NEW VILLAINS- Not sure if that means there's another force strong enough to oppose the Galra Empire who also has less-than-noble-interests in Voltron or if they're sub-bosses of a sort, but Voltron punches one tf out and then another one has Lance?!

1:28 They're fighting Cthulu? In a box??

1:29-1:31 Astral projection of Zarkon versus... ASTRAL PROJECTION OF SHIRO HOLY FUCKING SHIT SHIRO OBVIOUSLY ISN'T GOING TO DO ANY MAJOR DAMAGE BUT THAT LOOKS LIKE IT'S GOING TO BE AN INTENSE AND AMAZING FIGHT (love the animation there)

1:32-1:59/End is just letting people know when the new season will be released and links to clips from season 1.

This is so long and rambly I’m sorry ;;

Wangnan

how i feel about this character

He’s so underrated???? Like, if you think about it with the way TOG is constructed, the narrative is really split into two complimentary stories -- the story of Bam as an irregular introduced to the world of the Tower from outside, and the story of Wangnan who lives as part of the system. And like, obviously most of the stories are kind of a slow burn right now outside of Bam (when was the last time we had an update on Kun’s goals other than “follow Bam”? And yet everyone treats him as though he’s a protagonist. He is a main character, but he’s not a protagonist . . . . ) but Wangnan’s story is clearly meant to parallel Bam’s. Bam is the outsider’s perspective on the tower. Wangnan’s the insider (in more ways than one, since SIU has mentioned he knows a lot about the inside of the tower, too.) If people would just be a little bit patient. . .

But as soon as he does start being plot relevant, there are people bitching about how SIU is trying to “force” them to care about Wangnan like ? ? ? He’s been Bam’s foil the entire time guys.

ACTUALLY! That’s something that I haven’t talked about at all yet, but Wangnan really is Bam’s foil, in a similar way to how Rachel is Kun’s foil. Everyone’s impression of Bam has been “innocent ball of pure sunshine” on the second floor, but when we’re introduced to Bam again on the 20th floor as Viole, Wangnan is the one being the innocent ball of sunshine. He’s a little more cynical and tough at first, but his primary way of dealing with people is to be honest and optimistic. Like Bam in S1, he also relies a lot on quick thinking because he’s not as powerful as the people around him, and he blames himself when things go wrong. But Bam sticks to his guns even when it divides him from people -- he point blank tells Endorssi he won’t be her Servant in NHS because he needs Kaiser’s name too, and he tends to just flat out ignore people when he doesn’t like them, while Wangnan doesn’t care about dignity or anything of the sort -- as long as he gets what he wants in the end, he’s willing to lie, cheat, steal or beg.

The team up between Wangnan and Rachel now has a layer of depth I hadn’t thought about before. Hmm. . . . . Also, if Wangnan is Bam’s foil, I wonder if he’ll also receive a great many power ups in the next season. . . . Karaka’s super evil training?!

E V E R Y O N E please love Wangnan he’s a good kid he’ll treat you write. Right.

I don’t really ship Wangnan/Ehwa because most of the shipping material I’ve seen for it seems to be along the lines of “let’s ignore how important Ehwa’s relationship with Bam has been to the narrative in order to ship Bam with Kun or Endorssi” pair the spares type deal? But I’ll talk about that with Ehwa’s section lolol. But like. . . honestly, Wangnan makes a good pairing with literally everyone. He’s just really genuine and real with people, and he brings out sides of them that you don’t really see anywhere else.

Kun? Brings out his vulnerability and shines light on his more insecure sides.

Rachel? A little antagonistic, but he, again, brings light to the sides of her that other people over look (granted, we haven’t seen a lot of this but the whole conversation about her tidying up a lot comes to light -- he noticed that and kind of tried to dig at her the way Kun was, but it’s not the kind of thing Kun would comment on, either. Kun doesn’t ask questions. Wangnan does lolol)

Karaka? Time to be a mentor figure for Wangnan, okay, I don’t make the rules.

Vicente? Tamed

Bam? Well he’s darn well the person who got Bam into a team again.

Cassano? Calling him out on his BS and making him rethink things. Hopefully that works out to the extent of Cassano saving Horyang. (Also, Cassano/Goseng/Horyang love triangle/team up would be hilarious, but that’s unrelated.)

Wangnan is just very refreshing for ships because he earnestly interacts with people, which, compared to Bam or Kun is really nice.

Wangnan & Ehwa as teammates who have each other’s back is always nice to see!

Akraptor’s encouragement of Wangnan before was really nice too ;;

I ship Wangnan with being respected and cherished please and thank you he’s a good kid (he’s old enough to drink . . . . though i guess the drinking age in korea is different from what i’m used to haha)

She’s such an angel and I’m so proud of her? She’s grown so much and she keeps growing, and I love her she deserves happiness and good things please give her happiness and good things ;A:

Um. E-everyone. . . Actually, now that I think about it I don’t have a whole lot of Ehwa ships. The only people her interactions with stand out to me right now are Bam, Wangnan and Bero Bero. I don’t ship her with Wangnan so much because it really feels like a lot of the time people are dismissing her relationship with Bam, like “Side characters should be with side characters!”

But her relationship with Bam is really super sweet? She started out initially harsh and untrusting with him, but has slowly become inspired by him, and wants to become stronger alongside him . . . . The moment when she thought to herself, “No. . . I should call him Bam” really got me straight in the feels. And Bam’s interactions with her are also very sweet -- he doesn’t ever seem put off by her tsundere moments or anything, and I think he kind of gets where she’s coming from, and he seems really comfortable around her.

I still low key ship her with Bero Bero, too. There’s just a fun, “I’m DEFINITELY just jealous of her beauty and TOTALLY NOT admiring her at all what are you talking about” dynamic, even if they haven’t seen each other in ages TT_TT

Rachel

how i feel about this character

Complicated. . . . On the one hand, she’s a lot of things that I didn’t know I needed re: female characters. She’s not pretty or talented or meek. She wants what she wants and she goes after it, but she’s not cool. I can also understand why she would leave Bam behind, even without the reveal of the whole “destiny” thing -- taking care of someone and raising someone and teaching them everything about the world, and doing it right, is a lot of work. It eats up the time and energy you have to be yourself, and here she is just finding a strange boy in a cave (or whatever happened there, seeking him out? Planning on assassinating him?) and presumably with her own dreams -- I can understand why she wouldn’t want Bam to keep clinging to her, and I can also understand why she wouldn’t be able to let him go all the way either. (And she can’t. Her speech with Kun and her expression after Bam said he understood they’d be enemies both confirm this -- but she’s sticking by her initial decision too. Rachel letting go of Bam is a long journey.)

But also. . . there are a lot of hints that the way she treated Bam sometimes was not very good. She tells him he’ll never be chosen, and that only chosen people can go up, she lies to him, she manipulates him . . . even discounting the heavy, plot stuff (pushing him to what seemed to be his death, selling him out to FUG, etc) -- and when she broke down and told him he should have been waiting for her in that cave the whole time. . . I dunno. I think on some level, Rachel was legitimately abusive towards Bam. It could be me projecting onto Bam’s character with the things I’ve been through, or it could be genuinely where SIU is going with her character, but . . . it’s still my overall impression.

(Sometimes I feel like there’s a lot of pressure if you like Bam to also hate Rachel, but somehow I can’t bring myself to do that. She’s just small and sad in a big world that she’s not ready for, and we’ve all felt like that before, right?)

Yura, Endorssi, Kun, Hoaqin . . . normally I don’t like rival-type ships but there’s two of those. . . I think they’re more satisfying with Rachel. With Kun it’s like an understated rivalry and subtle digs back and forth, and then with Endorssi there’s a power struggle that goes back and forth pretty well despite them both having different levels of experience. . . what a strange feeling.

Yura and Rachel just seem like a really cute romance. The couple that salts together stays together or whatever. They can be bitter together without feeling guilty or judged, and I think we all kind of need someone like that in our lives.

And Rachel and Hoaqin. . . it’s femmedom. That’s all. Rachel could put Hoaqin on a leash and he’d like it. I initially wrote “secretly like it” but honestly there is not “secret” he’d just outright make dirty comments about it constantly. No one would forget it except Rachel (?). It’s fun watching someone like Hoaqin (who is probably very adamant about being In Charge in a relationship) get a bit flustered by having someone else in charge lolol

I don’t think Rachel has any such person in her life. Maybe her relationship with Hwa Ryun? I like how Hwa Ryun is simultaneously very aware of Rachel’s mentality, but also kind of completely baffled like it. Yeah, I don’t understand Irregulars either, Hwa Ryun!

That she’s not inherently unforgivable for what she did to Bam, I guess. . . . ? I genuinely like her as a character and would probably try to befriend her if we ever met, though I don’t think she’d appreciate it lol. I also don’t think she’s as “noble” as some Rachel supporters like to make her out to be though. I think she’s a petty girl who doesn’t want to grow up, and because of that I imagine her story’s going to be harder on her than it needs to be. She causes a lot of her own suffering because of her negative outlook on things, and not because she doesn’t have a point when she says things like “Well, I got a shitty end of the stick here :/”.

I really hope she and Yura are able to have a happy relationship ;; I got kind of a bad feeling when Yura said “Rachel you came to save me!” though. . . like Yura might be idolizing Rachel too much, and that’ll piss Rachel off. Weird girl. . . . She doesn’t like when other people are “more special” but when she’s “special” to someone she hates that too.

Bam

how i feel about this character

Umm. . .well, we all kind of already know how I feel about Bam. . . . But I’m always okay with talking about how I feel about Bam too so like, I mean. . .

I dunno, he’s probably the character I’ve connected to the most, like. . . ever. Our experiences in life aren’t one-for-one or anything, but I can relate to the sense of being raised in isolation, and having to accept someone else’s definition of me, and being used as a tool for revenge. I can understand being put on a pedestal and then thrown from it only to be put back on the pedestal by someone else. Seeing someone else go through it meant a lot.

And. . . Bam also is accepted for a lot of traits that I’ve typically had a hard time with. Like being stubborn and a little too blunt and I dunno. And he’s quiet and reserved, and it’s just. . . really nice to have him be the hero of the story, haha.

As for the rest of my feelings. . . I’m pretty vocal about being in love with him, and sometimes I have a lot of worries because of it. But ultimately I really like being in love with him and thinking about him, so . . . it should be fine, right? For reasons that are pretty straightforward since I feel so strongly about him, I’m probably most picky about Bam’s relationships than anyone else. Sometimes I worry that I just dislike certain ships with him because they’re popular, etc, but . . . I do like him with Ehwa (no. 1) and Yuri (this ship only started growing on me after their reunion though. I was always a bit mystified by it’s before, but I guess a lot of people in the fandom kind of project on Bam. I mean?? Hwa Ryun doesn’t even LIKE Bam and yet Hwa Ryun and Elaine both get brought up as part of being his harem, or candidates for being “the heroine”. Tch. It’s obviously Ehwa.

Anyway, I also ship Bam with Xia Xia like that’s my big Bam rarepair is with Xia Xia. So those three for the most part :|b But sometimes I really like exploring his relationship with Rachel from a more romantic perspective too? I feel like I’m a bit of a weirdo in that department though. . . I don’t ship Bamchel from the perspective of “he and Rachel work out their differences and live happily ever after” but more in the “they had a really unhealthy borderline-abusive relationship in the past and sometimes that has romantic undertones to me” vein, and exploring that can be very cathartic for me.

I used to ship Bam/Kun but it hasn’t really had an impact on me emotionally since the end of the workshop battle. I keep hoping that they’re gonna get happier, but I can’t shake the feeling that SIU’s leading up to something v. Bad in the AA department.

Oh. . . and for some reason the idea of Bam/Hoaqin strikes me as hilarious too, but I feel like that would bother him. . . he’d definitely give me the side-eye over that. . . . .

my unpopular opinion about this character

He knows what sex is and how it works. :/ Everyone likes to be like “OOOOH HE’S SO INNOCENT” but like. He has a body that’s past puberty, so even if somehow miraculously absolutely 0 people every thought “hey, maybe we should give him The Talk” (Jinsung or Hwa Ryun at the very least would though? Especially since Jinsung starts of his relationship with Bam by being like “Do you want girls????”) I imagine when his body started doing that thing that bodies tend to do, he might, just maybe, have been like “So, uh. Why does my voice keep doing that -- that thing it just did it again” or like “Hey, I had this really weird dream????” And we know he was a bit of a late bloomer because literally everyone was like “but he’s so smol” on the floor of test, and then “OH he’s GROWN” after the time skip.

Like, there are physical aspects to having a body designed for sexual reproduction, and we generally pass that kind of information on to people, y’know? AND he didn’t bat an eye when Ehwa and Wangnan were being huge perverts the first time he met them, or seem at all confused when Ehwa insinuated that he’d want to have sex with her. . . . But there are people who make a big deal about how he doesn’t know aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanything about that like ? ? ?

And then there was one fic I found where it was like “Oh yeah, Bam accidentally spread rumors about him boning Jinsung because he didn’t understand this sexual slang lolol” and Bam is really clever and probably actually super good at word play? Rachel used to complain about him making games “take too long” because he wasn’t an easy opponent and did things that were unexpected . . .yeah, he’s really straightforward and single-minded but he’s also pretty good at figuring things out!

Also, I think to an extent he’s purposefully a little distant with people, but that’s not really an unpopular opinion so much as a headcanon, I guess?

More honestly, though, there’s a lot of possible directions I’d love to see Bam’s character take. Maybe that’s why I have so many selfship AUs. . . . except it’s obviously not because Bam in my selfship AUs always has pretty much the same personality and development. I can neither add more suffereing or take suffering away from him orz

But yeah, really the only thing that would upset me as far as Bam’s development is if he dies a tragic death as a martyr. I just want him to be happy. I’m content with anything as long as Bam is happy and smiles in the end

So no one’s responded to my last response on MegaTen wiki about the name changes. orz (probably came on too strong with how much I type that’s on me orz) Guess they aren’t gonna change it to a more uniformed thing. And Tamaki and Nobu/Jin are still under the same umbrella. DX I wonder if I should poach a topic over there about it.......... (more concerned about them having their own entries rather than the name thing atm)

But I’m thinking of doing a topic with the P3MC to ask for permission to adjust his birthday. Change it from:

“Unknown, 1992″

to “Unknown Month, 5th, 1992/3 (game), Uknown, 1992 (Movie)”

With a trivia note being like: One of the artbooks lists his birthday as the 5th of a month (it’s hidden away, and it’s only one artbook iirc), and since they don’t mention him skipping grades or being held back, that would place him at “April 5th, 1992-March 5th, 1993″ for the game. The movie does specify 1992 (so it’d be sometime between April 2nd 1992-Dec 31st 1992 movie wise), but the two are their own separate entity so I dunno if I’d would overlap them on the wiki but it’s up to them.

And maybe I’ll ask them to allow me(/someone cause it’s locked atm) to change Yu’s birthday from “unknown 1994″ to “c. 1994-c. early 1995″ like the P5MC, esp since they also don’t label a birth year for the P4MC...... As well as the FeMC to “c. 1992-c. early 1993″ (she is a separate entity from P3MC and her artbooks don’t list any dates for her so I’ll treat her as separate)

Those are the only things I think should probs be changed on the wiki to accurately reflect things.

this is prolly gonna be a hot take on this blog, but i dunno if Ryuji and Ann have super necessary roles in the PT, do they? Like they also seem to mainly be filling out thief tropes via the muscle and femme fatale (Granted they're def important in the first two dungeons, but after that they kinda fizzle out in importance unless it's badly written conflict for Oku's dungeon; heck i recall someone even calling Ann kinda useless later on in the game)

For the blog? Yeah. For me personally? No, I've thought about it before skldfja;jfkajf I just don’t talk about it cause the point is moot (and I’d rather talk about how they could’ve been used more effectively cause I think they have more they could provide). Technically no one is exactly SUPER IMPORTANT except maybe the MC (not because he's Joker, but because we need an MC kefjklasfjfjsda), but Anne/Ryu do have roles that can be utilized well in the game/story that could be neat......if actually used (plus they can serve multiple roles than just femme fatale and muscle). But yeah the game doesn't utilize roles well, it makes everyone useless tbh. Makoto and Futaba are only useful because of plot convenience and......*fumes* I've explained why I think their roles are poorly handled (and it's not cause it takes things away from other chars, but that is one).

Grant it, most of the "usefulness" of chars is them getting ideas for targets, which could just be accomplished by Google and a list of well known people. 8U But let's pretend the Nav doesn't ONLY require a name to figure out if someone can be a target (hey I didn’t write P5 to have overly complex half assed solutions for simple problems, Atlus did~!) But I’m prioritizing finding targets and info on targets since that seems to be what the team has a big hard on for.

Anne: While yes she can be femme fatale, it'd require actually using femme fatale abilities. Not only can she provide a certain type of distraction, she can use her “wiles” to gather information. Her being a model could also provide us with possible targets in a celebrity-esque field that we otherwise wouldn’t have access to. She’d also pair really well with Haru in that case as well (Haru possibly using her connections to get Anne into those places).

Haru: Not only can she be the financier (and also providing possible cover for the money we make in the Metaverse), she also has access to high society, and that doesn’t just mean celebs. And if written....a different way, she can prove to be able to speak very well and be able to mingle in any convo (which can be used as a distraction or info gathering). Which could also provide a great skill in negotiations.

Ryuji: Now it’s been awhile since I researched this, but last time I checked single mother’s in Japan tend to......not have the best income (I think the research was me wondering how can he attend a prep school?), so it’s possible he can have access to not the best neighborhoods, and if not, he looks like a delinquent so he can probably infiltrate those neighborhoods for info more easily than Anne/Haru. On top of being the muscle, and being able to provide distractions that require more physical effort (such as Mada’s dungeon)

Mona: Not only does he have info on the Metaverse, he also has more experience (*cough* lies?????*cough* .....his backstory is confusing but that’s for a different time.....much later but at some point) and can help advise us. He also has the ability to info gather in most public places without issue. Which makes him one of the most OP in terms of info gathering.

MC is really just there to pull it all together, maybe be able to sneak into seedier place due to his probation status (I mean he shouldn’t, but if he needed to he might), but yeah he’s there as the leader.

So while Anne/Ryu/Mona/Yusuke/Haru(*cough*MC*cough*) are all useless in the actual P5 story compared to the supposedly “not useless” contrived plot devices that are Mako/Futaba (that either don’t do their jobs right/well, or the game pretty much has to create scenarios to justify the job even tho......we didn’t really need it, and both can take away from possible gameplay/story scenarios)......let’s just say Anne/Ryu/Haru/Mona have a bit more than just their “thief trope” they are based off of that could provide a lot to the team if P5′s writing wasn’t absolute crap.

Their roles are pretty standard, but they also work in the strength of what they need (targets), and cover what the other lacks. Like I guess Yusuke could replace Ryu, if Yusuke wasn’t always categorized as a starving character, despite his in game strength stat it doesn’t really make sense nor feel as reliable compared to Ryu; he could provide a decent substitute to Ryu’s role as the muscle, and while he is on the lower end of society and thus filling Ryu’s other attribute to the team.....I feel like he’d have a harder time sneaking into/utilizing it due to his appearance compared to Ryu. But again, nothing is super important, chars can be changed to be utilized better, nothing matters. I just think Anne/Ryu/Mona/Haru already have a solid foundation that is good for the setting and the only way to go is up with them (in rewrites of course akjfesdkl;jfaf Atlus already screwed the pooch klfsdajf;ajf *sobs* orz)

I haven’t watched it, sorry ;-; but yeah! Bakugou protecting Kirishima is something I’m waiting for the actual manga to deliver, so I try not to think too much about it to keep it fresh in case Horikoshi’ll ever be that nice to me haha but anyway we sort of saw how he reacted to Kiri being in mild “danger” during the license exam, so I guess for him to actually lose his mind and explode/get angry Kiri should be in serious danger. Like, post-Rappa fight type of danger, probably. Ahhhhhhhh boy, I seriously hope Hori will be kind enough to make something like that happen (………not that I want Kiri hurt, tho ;–;)
